EBONYLIFE MOVIE 'THE WEDDING PARTY' WOWS AUDIENCE IN TORONTO

'The Wedding Party,'  a romantic comedy movie directed by Kemi Adetiba, thrilled viewers at its world premiere screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The screening took place at the Elgin Theatre in Canada on Friday, September 8. The venue was filled beyond its 1400 capacity.

The premiere paraded cast of the movie on the red carpet with appearances by Richard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Alibaba, Iretiola Doyle, Banky W, and Adesua Etomi. Special guests included Hollywood’s David Oyeowo and Toronto Raptors President, Masai Urjiri.

"The Wedding Party" plot centers on the love affair between Dunni Coker (Adesua Etomi) and Dozie (Banky W). The bad intents of an ex-girlfriend, the ambitious ego of a wedding planner and the conflicting interests of the couples families: makes this movie a perfect romantic comedy. The movie utilises the unadulterated humour skills of Nigeria’s top comedians like Afeez Oyetoro and Ay.

Speaking on the success of the film at the festival, Executive Producer Mo Abudu said: “The popularity of Nigerian film has been on a steady incline over the last few years.” “More and more global audiences are recognizing the quality of film that comes from the third largest film industry in the world.  It was a true honour to have Nigerian film spotlighted in the festival programme and I am truly thrilled to hear such positive feedback from the TIFF global audience.”  And positive feedback from the TIFF global audience it was.  The over 1400 guests of the premiere laughed, sang and applauded the film during its air.  Cast members were greeted with thunderous applause during the credits.

'The Wedding Party' is written by playwright Tosin Otudeko and Kemi Adetiba. It is a production of Elfike Film Collective productions – a collaborative venture of EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios.
'The Wedding Party' has achieved the feat of becoming the second movie to be screened at an international film festival on the EbonyLife film stable after last year’s highest grossing movie “Fifty”

This year’s Toronto International Film Festival runs from the 8 to 18 of September, 2016. ‘‘The Wedding Party” will continue to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival from September 9 till September 18.

The Lagos International Premiere of ‘The Wedding Party’ will hold this November, at The Landmark Centre.

Review: Kanye West's 'Ultralight Beam.'

‘Ultralight Beam’ is a song recorded by American rapper and fashion mogul Kanye West.   It features efforts from The Dream, Kelly Price, Chance The Rapper and Kirk Franklin. Charged with black power and choral performance, ‘Ultralight Beam’ stands bold and fearless, yet gentle to the touch with its message that takes on issues as suppression, hope, faith and resilience  that form the block of ‘Life Of Pablo’ album.    'Ultralight Beam' is a Gospel in its arrangement and instrumentation that seamlessly infuses jazz flavours accentuated through resounding horns.   What really sets the pace on ‘Ultralight Beam’ remains its subtlety in the way it gives room for each act to vocally express themselves. The track sets off on the zestful vocals of 4 years old Natalie Green, culled from a YouTube video that sees Green pray for her family shortly before they embark on a journey. The infusion of Green's vocals easily buys the emotions of the listener, first w
